The problem with Speed Racer is that its postives cancel out its neagtives. The visual style may have been appealing to kids was a turn off to adults. It tried to pay homage to the orgianl with the Spittle (they acted exactly the way the did in the cartoon, since you never saw it) which was cool for nostalgia purposes but it grew old fast. The film was marketed toward 5 and 10 year boys which is way to narrow of a demographic for the amount of money they spent.
