Blackgeekdom: Black Women in Science Fiction

I think that the lack of diveristy among the writers is refelected in the shows. If you take care of that I believe everything else will fall in place.

The good thing that I've noticed, though, is that the Black Women who are featured in Sci-Fi have, for the most part, been strong characters and leaders in their own right (Storm from X-Men, Teyla from Stargate Atlantis, the Jaffa women of Stargate SG-1, just to name a few).

I agree with Hanako. Give the writers that do write characters with race in mind some credit for always portraying them in a good light, and that goes for Black men and women.

Good point Hanako. I just wish we had more examples than those few.
